The History of Mililani Community Church

The seeds of Mililani Community Church were first planted in 1975, when a group of women gathered for a Bible study in Mililani Town. In 1980 the church was born, with the encouragement and financial support of Kalihi Union Church of Honolulu. The church was originally called “The Church at Our House” and met in various homes in Mililani.

Our former senior pastor, Dr. Rick Bartosik began his faithful ministry in June 1995. In February 1996, we became affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America. Soon thereafter, the name of the church was changed to Mililani Community Church.

Jayson Saito served as our Youth Pastor from August 1995 to August 1999. In August 1999, we sent Jayson and Rachelle and a core team to the Island of Maui to plant Maui Community Church. In 2004, with the blessings of his church and the Hawaii District of the EFCA, Jayson and many of his members teamed up with Kahului Union Church.

Since 1999, MCC was blessed with the service of our former Associate Pastor for youth and Christian Education, Steve Knapp.

Pastors Rick and Steve, our faithful shepherds have both retired, yet are still active in ministry with MCC and the Hawaii District of the EFCA. Our church was and still continues to be blessed with these men, their wives and family.

In 2014 we completed the first phase of our new church facility in Mililani Mauka. This building serves as a multipurpose facility for Sunday School, Worship, and a Pre-school which opened its door in November 2016 led by our wonderful preschool director, Sayaka Nakano. In addition to multiple local and international ministries, we are currently committed to an on-going church planter training project in Southeast Asia, in partnership with our fellow EFCA congregations in Hawaii.

In January 2017, after being 17 years away from Oahu, The Lord led Jayson and Rachelle back to Mililani Community Church. Jayson is now following in the footsteps of his mentor, with the privilege and joy of serving the MCC Ohana, now as Senior Pastor.
