In The Beginning...

The seeds of Mililani Community Church were first planted in 1975, when a group of women gathered for a Bible study in Mililani Town.

In 1980 the church was born, with the encouragement and financial support of Kalihi Union Church of Honolulu. The church was originally called "The Church at Our House" and met in various homes in Mililani.

Our senior pastor, Rick Bartosik began his ministry at MCC in June 1995. In February, 1996 we became affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America. Soon thereafter the name of the church was changed to Mililani Community Church.

God is Enlarging Our Territory!

May 30, 2003, marked a significant and memorable day in the history of Mililani Community Church (MCC). By a deed recorded at the Bureau of Conveyances, Castle and Cooke, Inc. (C&C) transferred 1.65 acres of land in Mililani Mauka to our church body. We are now property owners! How this all came about is a testament to the awesomeness of our God!

Although our church members began exploring the possibility of acquiring land for a ministry facility in the early 1980's, affordable land was simply not available. In September 1999, C&C invited MCC and other churches that had maintained an interest in land to submit proposals for the last parcel of land that would be made available for church use in the Mililani community. On November 30, 1999, MCC submitted a proposal, and on August 10, 2000, followed up with a non-binding letter of intent, offering to purchase, on an eighteen-month agreement of sale, a portion of that parcel.

We did not hear from C&C for almost two years, but on May 24, 2002, C&C responded with a counteroffer, giving MCC until December 31, 2004 to pay the MCC-offered price, but also providing a $50,000 discount if payment were made in full by December 31, 2002.

After prayerfully considering the counteroffer, our small MCC congregation stepped out in faith and accepted it. We gathered at the site, joined hands, and prayed fervently for God to direct our paths as a body. We recalled and drew encouragement from the story of Joshua and Caleb and their unshakable faith in God's plan to deliver the Promised Land to the Israelites. We prayed the prayer of Jabez: "Oh, that you would bless [us] indeed, and enlarge [our] territory, that Your hand would be with [us], and that You would keep [us] from evil." 1 Chronicles 4:10.

And God delivered the Promised Land! Our congregation is in awe at how God brought this about and the way He brought gifted and talented people, some who were total strangers to MCC, to shepherd and guide us at different stages of this project. We are also humbled by the challenges that lie ahead as we move forward to carry out God's vision for ministering to the lost, the poor, the sick, the unloved, the powerless, and the needy and bringing them to Jesus. We are looking forward to the abundant blessings that we know will come as we step forward in faith, dependent on God for wisdom and guidance in this new venture.
