Welcome to our Staff page. A team of elders and pastoral staff leads Mililani Community Church. A Church Council reports regularly to the Senior Pastor and elders. The Church Council consists of those who provide leadership in the areas of Worship, Christian Education, Children’s Church, Nursery, Youth Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Missions, Finances, and Church Building Committee.

Assistant Pastor Steve Knapp

They have four children: Amy Joy is married to James Dasher and lives in Portland, Oregon with their two daughters.  Justin & Nathan work in local elementary schools, while Hannah Grace is a student at The Master’s College in California.

Steve was raised in a Christian home by missionary parents (Venezuela) and grew up in Southern California. When he was still a child, he accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior. At 19 years of age he committed his life to full-time Christian service.

Over the years he has taught in a total of seven Christian schools – in California and Hawaii (including schools on Maui, the Big Island and Oahu). He has had training in the hospital chaplaincy, and served as a short-term missionary in Irian Jaya, New Guinea, Indonesia. He has also been involved in Christian camping ministries, and has had experience in the operation of Christian bookstores.

Pastor Steve is currently serving Mililani Community Church as Director of Christian Education and Youth. The Children’s Church ministry, Sunday School and Youth Ministry are under his supervision. He also works in some aspects of church administration.

Steve’s life verse is Philippians 1:21:
“For to me, to live is Christ; and to die is gain.”

Senior Pastor Rick Bartosik

Pastor Rick is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Trinity International University and Dallas Theological Seminary. He graduated from Dallas Seminary with a Master of Theology degree in 1973 and a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1991, earning the John G. Mitchell Award for outstanding scholarship and effectiveness in ministry.

Rick came to Hawaii in 1977 to pioneer the Hawaii prison ministry of the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry. He was a chaplain for our state prison system from 1977 to 1990, serving as Senior Chaplain for the Corrections Division of the State of Hawaii, and Regional Director of the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry.During that period a comprehensive ministry of the gospel was developed in our state prison, consisting of a dynamic inmate church, more than 500 volunteers from 80 local churches, and a team of four full-time Good News Jail and Prison Ministry chaplains. He received an honorary certificate of recognition from the Hawaii State House of Representatives for his leadership role in the Hawaii Prison System.

From 1991 to 1993 Rick served as Dean of International College of Honolulu. He continues to serve on the faculty of International College and Graduate School, where he currently teaches systematic theology. He has also taught modular courses in theology to pastors and Christian leaders in Korea and Russia.

In June 1995, after serving three interim pastorates in Hawaii, Rick accepted the call to become the Senior Pastor of Mililani Community Church. In 1996 the church voted unanimously to join the Evangelical Free Church of America. Today Rick serves on the Board of the Hawaii District. Rick’s goal is to build the Body of Christ through solid expository teaching and preaching, and the discipleship of lay leaders.

Pastor Rick and his wife Diane met in Hawaii in 1980 and were married in 1982. Diane retired as a Honolulu based flight attendant for United Airlines in 2008.  Their son David is at Talbot Seminary in La Mirada, CA and in August 2009 married Casey Chapman.

Rick and David enjoy father/son fly-fishing trips to Montana during summer vacations.
