NURSERY AND PRE-SCHOOL AGE

The nursery is available to children from 0-4 years of age. During Sunday School the Preschool children who are 2-4 years of age have their own Sunday School time in the nursery department. We use the David C. Cook Sunday School curriculum.

The volunteer nursery staff provide safe, gentle care while taking advantage of the opportunity to teach babies and toddlers through associations and feelings that later develop into concepts and attitudes about God. They are introduced to simple songs, Bible stories.

When a child is a regular attender, the parents will be asked to serve on the nursery team once a month. They join other volunteers, and the nursery coordinators who provide a wonderful first-church experience for these precious little ones.

The nursery is available for all Sunday Services, and special events as announced.

KINDERGARTEN THROUGH SECOND GRADE

Research indicates that by the time children are ready for kindergarten their basic attitudes and habits are formed for life. Therefore we take our ministry to two, three, four and five year olds very seriously.

We believe in building a solid spiritual foundation through songs, stories, and a variety of learning experiences. Our goal with our children is to help them know our Lord Jesus Christ and to learn how to apply God’s Word to their daily lives.

THIRD THROUGH FIFTH GRADE CLASS

On Sunday mornings our curriculum explores studies in both the Old Testament and New Testament using the David C. Cook curriculum.

CHILDREN’S CHURCH

Our children’s church program is for children age five through the sixth grade. Children join the adults for the first part of the worship service and are dismissed after the opening songs and offering. On the first Sunday of each month, families worship together for the entire worship service. On the Sunday’s that the children remain in the worship service, our pastor gives a children’s message prior to the sermon.

The Children’s Church service includes singing, Bible memorization, an offering, and the Character First curriculum developed by Bill Gothard, along with songs, stories, videos, games, crafts, offering and prayer.

Goals of the Children’s Church Ministry:

• That each child come to know Jesus Christ as Savior
• That each child grow to love God’s Word
• That each child desire to pray for others and for one another in the class
• That each child desire to give to Lord’s work
• That each child exhibit God’s character in their daily lives

SUMMER VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Vacation Bible School is a high point of the summer for elementary age children, ages 4-12. VBS meets mornings for one action-packed week. Volunteers provide Bible lessons, skits, music, snacks, crafts, recreation and missions for the enthusiastic children who attend. Our Vacation Bible School program for the past two summers on Oahu has been a joint outreach with Pacific Islands Bible Church in Mililani. Sixty kids were enrolled in our VBS this past summer, led by the youth of Mililani Community Church.

Our youth have also conducted Vacation Bible Schools on the islands of Kauai and Hawaii as well as in Brooklyn, New York at the Second Evangelical Free Church of Brooklyn.

Our sister church, Grace Community Church in Kailua-Kona plans to carry on the VBS program begun by our youth in 2003. Thirty children participated and ten made personal decisions to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Savior.

MUSIC

The Children’s Church choir performs periodically throughout the year. They participate in Christmas musical programs and assist in Sunday morning worship services from time to time. This past Christmas the children performed a Christmas program entitled “Away in a Manger” at the Ola Loa Retirement Community in Mililani, and in our Christmas worship service, under the capable direction of Audra Doak.

In the past the children have participated in our "Walk Through Bethlehem" program in which we turn the campus of Mililani-Waena Elementary School into the town of Bethlehem, and give the community guided tours.

Ginger Aiken led the children in a missions presentation called “Christmas Around The World.” These experiences give our children a wonderful opportunity to explore God’s great gift of music.

AWANA

Many of our church families participate in the Awana Club program (“Approved Workmen are Not Ashamed” - II Timothy 2:15), hosted by a neighborhood church. We meet on Friday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Some parents participate as group leaders.

This program is designed for kids from 3 years of age through High School. Exciting games, relevant Bible lessons, memory verses, awards and snacks are just some of the parts of the total Awana program.
