| The young people at Mililani Community Church are involved in the five basic purposes of the Christian life and the local church: 1) worship, 2) fellowship, 3) discipleship, 4) service, and 5) evangelism. Mililani youth look to the Lord for balance in all of life, and enjoy getting to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember to check the links... We have great photographs of our members in action! | ||||||||||||||||

Young people make up the large majority of our "Contemporary Worship Team." They lead congregational worship once a month. They are also being called upon to lead in other community ministry opportunities as well. Fellowship ActivitiesCamping ProgramsGod has often used camp ministries to bring young people to Himself in salvation and dedication. We are no exception. At MCC we participate with the state Youth for Christ Christmas Camp program, and with the Evangelical Free Church Association camping ministries. From time to time we also develop our own retreats and family camps.
Middle School (6th to 8th grade) Sunday SchoolStudents in grades 6 through 8 are doing an extended study in surveying the entire Bible. This exciting EFCA curriculum is skillfully taught by Dr. Lee and Mrs. Jackie Ingamells. High School & College Sunday SchoolWidely-known Christian Psychologist, Dr. George Rhoades, facilitates this stimulating and inspiring class. He uses an active participation model, as everyone gets involved in the learning process. Dr. Rhoades compiles his own curricula, and has completed several different topics including the Persecuted Church, Doctrines of the Holy Spirit, Cults and Isms, and Heroes of the Faith. Teen Bible StudyJunior and Senior High Students participate in weekly studies related to growth and maturity in their Christian walk. Under the direction of Youth Pastor Steve Knapp, various Bible books and study topics are covered. The current series involves Leadership Development. We meet on Sunday nights from 5:30 to 7:30 in the homes of our young people. College and Career Bible StudyThis exciting new ministry meets on Wednesday nights at 7 pm, led by Mark Heil and Chris Rhoades. All young college and career adults are invited for a time of focused Bible study, fellowship, encouragement and prayer. Awana ProgramWe also have Awana programs available to both Junior and Senior High Students. This helpful activity strongly encourages Scripture memory and practical service to others. It meets on Friday nights (Junior High 7-9 pm, and High School 5 - 6:03 pm). Service & MinistryRiver of Life MissionRiver of Live Mission is an evangelical organization in a needy part of downtown Honolulu. Our young people do great and effective service there each year for our Lord. Our kids have a reputation for working hard in the various tasks related to the maintaining of this vital outreach to the destitute, addicted and needy. Institute for Human ServicesInstitute for Human Services is a secular humanitarian organization that provides meals and basic services to street people in downtown Honolulu. Our teens have yearly served meals for the "down and out" at this location. Church and Community ServiceOther work projects involving our youth include cleaning up our new church property, providing components to the adult worship team, audio-visual services, set-up and takedown efforts for worship services, ushering, and many other contributions to the body of Christ and to the community. MISSION & EVANGELISMSummer Daily Vacation Bible SchoolOur summer DVBS program has been a yearly evangelistic outreach ministry of Mililani Community Church for eight years. For the past four years it has been organized and staffed by our church youth. The young people do the Bible teaching, lead the music, direct the game, snack and craft ministries, and handle the other details as well. God has richly blessed this ministry - beyond our expectations. Many children have come to know and grow in the Savior as a result of these endeavors. Our own youth have grown tremendously as well.
Several of our youth have been trained as Summer Missionaries. As a result, scores of kids and teens - even some adults - have met the Savior through the CEF Five-Day Club summer program. Families in our congregation open their homes to host several clubs each summer. The summer missionaries also serve as counselors at CEF "Camp Good News," at the end of each summer. Neighbor Island MinistriesOur teens have led successful Vacation Bible Schools on the Islands of Kauai and the Big Island of Kauai. In both instances, these were the first ministries of this kind ever done there - at our sister EFCA churches. God blessed mightily as kids, teens and adults were challenged with the claims of Christ. As a result of these activities, both host churches have been able to expand and facilitate new ministries. Mission to Brooklyn, New YorkMonths after the devastating attack of 9/11, our group was called upon to serve the Lord in New York City. After much preparation and prayer, we traveled to New York and served with a Vacation Bible School, and sports, music, drama, and coffee house ministries. The youth there were challenged to step up and serve the Lord themselves - resulting in their first ever missions trip some months later. Our MCC kids were changed forever - for good - as a result of this stretching and fruitful mission. Mission to Saint Petersburg, RussiaUnder the direction of Dr. George Rhoades, several teens from our church and others were able to join up with Dr. Josh McDowell in outreach and benevolence ministries in Russia. Youth were challenged by the cultural differences, and by the totally different lifestyles they encountered. Many were touched by God as an outcome. See Missions Page. | ||||||||||||||||
